ON PUBLISHING / ERASURE & INK

The pleasure of finding what was never lost.

A forgotten book is rarely gone. More often, it has become difficult to meet. It may sit in another language, in an old edition, or outside the few names that shape our idea of a literary period.

Rediscovery begins with a modest question: what else is there? At Erasure and Ink, that question is the beginning of our catalogue. We return to works whose voices and ideas still reward attention, and make new English editions that give readers a way in.

Translation is an invitation

A new translation offers a new encounter with a book. It carries the texture of another time into the language of a reader today. The challenge is to let that distance remain interesting without making the reading feel remote.

Our first two books point in different directions. From Jupiter imagines a journey beyond Earth; Zezé brings us to a voice within it. Together they suggest the range of what an independent catalogue can become.

A place on the shelf

Our ambition is practical: books people will want to open, read and keep. Distinctive covers and considered editions are part of that invitation. The final discovery belongs to the reader.
